All year long, the Oakhurst Garden is the host to a variety of events for our community of members, neighbors and partners.

We start in the spring with our Spring Plant Sale, followed by our Earth Day celebration, and into the summer with our popular Martinis in the Garden fundraising event. We finish up the year with our Fall Plant Sale and Decatur Garden Tour.

For more information about any of these events, please contact Stephanie Van Parys at (678) 642-4977, director@oakhurstgarden.org.

Events in the Garden

Spring Plant Sale
April 5 - The BIG sale! Over 50 varieties of tomatos, peppers, eggplants plus herbs, perennials and annual flowers

The Earthen Playhouse Project Celebrates "Ox"!
April 13, 4 - 6 p.m.

Begun in Summer of 2006, involving more than 1,000 hands and maybe 950 feet (not everyone jumped in the mud!) -- that's about 500 men, women, and children -- and being finished with fine artistry by the month of April. At this celebration, not only will we enjoy live music and food cooked by our neighbors, but we will enjoy a full screened picture presentation of the building of "Ox"!

"Ox" got its name in honor of its completion time being just about at the spring Equinox. And to help you remember the eqinox that he/she was completed on was indeed the spring equinox, you can think of the project leader: Aviva, for her name means "spring" in Hebrew! "Ox" is also a great name because it definitely embodies the strength of the house, the strength of the community that built it, and the strength of love!

As you enter the house and see "O" and "X" on either side of you, you also think hugs and kisses ("xoxo")! AND you think of the classic game, "tic tac toe", and how fun life can be! Very fitting!

But back to the celebration of "Ox"! Not only will we have a chance to hear from the artists and to speak ourselves about our experience building the playhouse, we will also all have the opportunity to plant the seeds of moonflowers and morning glories, the vines that will cover the playhouse! So come out and celebrate our community's amazing accomplishment -- "Ox"! Hope to see you there!

It begins at 4 p.m. and will go for a couple of hours, but maybe longer if we wish to celebrate longer! It is a potluck, so please bring your favorite dish to share, and be ready to enjoy live music, pictures, and a candlelit "Ox"! Oh! And we encourage you to bring an instrument to play if you play an instrument! And your dancing shoes . . . or feet!

RSVP to Aviva at 770-216-0561 or cobatlanta@gardener.com. And be sure to check out www.myspace.com/mudbuildersofatlanta.
